Knock Knock, who is knocking on your door? A guide to stop distraction burglary!

Knock Knock, who is knocking on your door? A guide to stop distraction burglary!

A guide to stop distraction burglary!

There are various stats showing burglaries happen more at day time, when we are out of the properties and that most burglars only spend up to 8 minutes in a property they break into. We are hearing more and more about a new type of burglary which the police are now calling ‘distraction burglary’. We heard about 3 of those cases last week, 2 in London and 1 further north, which show it is not a problem of a specific area.

Here’s how one of the stories unfolded. A man knocks on an old lady’s property asking to have a quick look at her kitchen pipeline, as he is there fixing a burst pipeline. While this lady let him and walked him into the property, others got into the property, and got hold of per valuables and left the place in no time. She did not even realise this happen much later in the day.

Bogus callers can turn up in different outfits, looking very official, in a uniform or casual, depending on what their story is. They may work alone or as a team. Their excuses may sound genuine and urgent. While one person tries to outsmart you and distract you, the others will take your valuable possessions, and most of these happen within a matter of minutes.

Be watchful of rogue traders who insist of doing works for you and want to take you to cash points or get you out of your house for any excuse they can come up with. Some of these people may have links with distraction burglars. You do not have to agree to them doing any work, and if they do not leave, call 999. Please do not agree to anything or sign any contracts because you feel pressurised. We hear stories of customers tricked into signing contracts without clearly understanding the length of contracts, actual costs, hidden charges, cancellation charges et cetera and also not understanding what service you are agreeing to.

Common distraction burglary tactics used are the following

I am here to take your meter reading.
I am from your water board to check a leakage.
We are from police, looking for a burglar who may be hiding here.
Can I use your phone? It is an emergency.
Can we use your toilet?
And many other ways we may not have thought of yet.
If someone is knocking on your door, here’s what you should do.

If you are not sure, do not open the door. Check the identity of the caller by calling the company they say they are from i.e.,police, gas, electricity, water. Do this by finding the contact details in local directory or in your utility bill. If they provide you a number to call, do not use them, as it could be a bogus number.

  • Contact a neighbour or friend to come along and check out the caller before you open the door for them.
  • Join neighbourhood watch or local community initiatives in your area.
  • Utility Providers will be happy verify identity of callers.
  • If you are alone at home, ask them to make appointments before they come in or ask them to come back at a time when there are other adults in your property.
  • Do not keep large quantities of cash or valuables at home.
  • If people contact you asking for help, redirect them to a younger neighbour or assist them through a closed door.
  • Keep your windows and doors closed at all times. If your back door/ window are open when someone is knocking on your front door, closed them before you answer your front door.
  • If someone is trying to take you out of your house, always lock the doors behind you, so no one can go inside your property when you are not looking.
  • If you are letting someone inside your home, lock your front door behind you.
  • Always lock your doors and set your alarms when you leave your property even if it is for few minutes. You can always get us to fit an alarm within 5 days of order.

Any genuine visitors will be happy to wait outside, while you verify their identity.
There is nothing wrong in saying a firm ‘No’ to a stranger.
If you suspect a bogus called visited you, contact the police even if you did not let them in.

Do you live alone? Some helpful advice for people who live alone!

Do you live alone? Some helpful advice for people who live alone!

As more and more people live alone and enjoy the freedom and personal space, it is important to be aware of the risks and responsibilities that come with this. Here’s is some basic tips to protect yourselves, these are equally relevant to an older person living alone and to a young person moving out of parents’ home and to a place of his/her own.

Lock your doors: Make it a habit to lock the doors every time come from outside. A lot of burglars gain access by simply checking if doors and windows are locked. With no one else to check, you can easily forget to lock it before going to bed. Also close and lock windows, especially the kitchen windows after finishing cooking, and windows and doors of any other rooms that you do not use on a daily basis.

Curtains and Blinds: Close them when you are not in the room. Do not leave lights on in a room with curtains open, and let any wandering eyes to see your possessions. A lot of burglars are just opportunists and don’t give them temptations.

Lights: Consider getting a motion triggered security light system fitted that may put people off. If not have some outdoor lights fitted, so when you hear any noises outside, turn then on and put off any unwanted visitors. For further security, consider getting a CCTV system fitted by us. Our CCTV systems records footage in day and night and you should be able view live footage on TV or on your smart phone.

Social Media Security: We wrote about the security threats posed by social media before as well. If you live alone, and let the world knowing you live alone is not a great idea. Even worse is letting someone know you are working late or out for the evening, or away on holiday. Try not to post photos of your expensive possessions either.

Neighbours: Get to know them. Not always easy, but definitely worth getting to know the right neighbours, who can look out for each other. Good neighbours should be able to keep an eye on your place when you are away.

Alarm System: Nothing puts a burglar off like a working alarm system. Consider getting a good quality intruder alarm system fitted by one of our professional engineers. They not only put thieves off, they also provide you the peace of mind. Consider the new generation Yale Smart Home Alarm system which has features that can be specially designed for Lone Occupant use. The idea is that you will be able to roam freely around the room, while the alarm system will monitor .

Are you sending out Burglary Invitations through Social Media?

Are you sending out Burglary Invitations through Social Media?

‘Me, my family are off to holidays in Sunny Spain…’, ‘I am out with my mates for a night out’, ‘we are hanging out at….’ …very common status updates on Facebook, Twitter and the check-ins in Foursquare. Have you ever considered who is viewing this updates? Are you sending invitations to burglars?

A recent study by Friedland estimate about 78% of the burglars use Facebook, Twitter and Foursquare to target potential empty properties. We all remember the recent riots in summer 2012 that was organised using social media and we do know now, this information can be handy for people who are after this information. Next time you are about to update a status about your holiday plans or whereabouts, think about who may be watching and following your updates.

Google Earth, Maps (in satellite mode) and Street View helps burglars to sit at their home and watch your property, understand if you have any fencing in your property, tall hedges, flat roof area for easy access to first floor of the property, and if there are any neighbours living nearby. They can use Google Maps to give them an overview of your property and helps in planning an entry and exit points.

So burglars are going high-tech too. They no longer have to wander around looking for opportunities. They can sit at home; check your social media status to plan if you are away, look at Google maps and Street View to plan burglary, even before they leave their home. We had a look on street view, you can easily identify your house number, what kind of windows and doors you have, and how far away is your neighbour’s house. A professional burglar may even figure out what kind of lock does your front door has. However they can also see if you have an alarm in your home, potentially putting burglars off. So consider getting an alarm fitted.

Here are some very simple steps you can take to protect your home

  • Try not to let the whole world know you are away from your home or working late or out for a night out. It may not be bad idea to wait till you get home before posting photos of your night outs, tagging friends, pointing out your ‘current’ location etc.
  • Avoid adding random people to your friend list, only add real friends. Facebook acknowledged in 2012 that about 8.7%, 83 million profiles on Facebook are fake! You should consider creating a close group where only your close friends get updates of your whereabouts.
  • Set privacy settings correctly, so only your friends can see your status updates.
  • Avoid public status updates that show your home address or as a location in map.
  • Avoid posting photos that reveal the whereabouts of your home, or landmarks near home.
  • Avoid posting photos of expensive items at your home.
  • Don’t make it easy for burglars to identify your home as an easy target, because of that tweet or Facebook status update. Lock up the place when you are away, leave some lights on, and get an alarm fitted by Fitted Home Alarms. With more and more people using social media, the chances of burglars using these mediums are also on the increase. Protect your home by using social media sensibly.

How we do, what we do & why we do, what we do!

How we do, what we do & why we do, what we do!

We are very passionate about home security and we love the fact that we help people sleep better at night. We like to do things a bit differently at Fitted Home Alarms.

Fairness in Pricing

We don’t think it is very fair to charge you an arm and leg for an Alarm system, Things are expensive enough.

Why don’t alarm companies show their prices on their website, and what are their small prints? What is stopping them from telling you how much will it cost for an alarm system to be fitted? Are they so overpriced, that they need their sales person (most likely be on a commission) to come into your house, and use every sales technique they have been trained on, and give you an offer only available on that day that they need you to sign a 10 page contract for 3 years.

All our prices are published on the website, clear and straight forward. No hidden costs, no contracts to sign, no VAT to add, no fitting charges to add etc. All the products we install have the prices clearly listed on the website and the prices for each unit is including fitting and VAT. So what you see is what you pay for.

We encourage our customers to compare us against competitors based on price and the service in offer. Always watch out for maintenance contracts, servicing costs and what their typical call out charges is.

Choice of Alarms

Anyone who tells you one alarm system will work for everyone and every type of property is not telling the truth. We are surprised there are companies out there who only offer one alarm system and expect it to fit everyone.

We offer a wide range of alarms from different manufacturers to meet the needs of every customer. We won’t just tell you to buy the most expensive alarm that has all the features you don’t need, we will take the time to find out your requirements, personal choices, budget limits and features of alarm systems and make recommendations and then help you choose the perfect Alarm to suit you and your needs.

Peace of mind

We want to give you peace of mind; all of our alarms come with one year onsite warranty so if you have any problems, we will be there to sort them out for you. We won’t just sell you an alarm and then leave you in the dark. We are here to help so you can get the best out of your alarm.

Discounts on Home Insurance

We are not about getting you discount on Home insurance; we can’t justify you paying way over the odds for your alarm to get a very small discount on home insurance. We are able to do the same alarms that the Insurance company recommended Installers do, but for a much lower cost to you. We dare you to do the math and see for yourself.

According to statistics, the average home insurance costs in UK in 2012 were £650 and with an insurance certificate, there is a discount of 5-10% in offer, making an average saving of £20-£100. Now we got some quotes from competitors, and they were charging about £300 more than us for the same system with same features. Did I also mention the monitoring costs and annual maintenance contracts? The numbers just don’t add up!

Monitoring Contracts

We don’t deal with contracts with small prints and hidden costs, we will not tell you we can install an alarm for under £100 then charge you thousands over the years just to own it, and there will not be any monthly costs. Once the alarm has been brought it is yours for life and most of the alarms will last that long.

The factual truth is most customers don’t need third party monitored alarms. If you like to be alerted if there is a break in attempt, we have a range of self-monitored alarms that can call you alert you either using your landline or using a mobile phone SIM card GSM unit, without you having to pay for a monitoring fee or being in a contract. It costs you a fraction of a third party monitored alarm.

Before signing up a third party monitored alarm contract, please ask the following questions and please, please ask the answers in writing.

What happens if you wish to stop the service half way through the length of a contract? (Be prepared to pay a lump sum for reminder of the contract)
What if you have to move houses in between contracts?
What happens at the end of contract? Do they roll you into a new contract automatically? Will the alarm stops working if you decide not to renew a contract?
Who owns the alarm system?
Do they charge to come and remove the alarm because you decided not to renew a contract and how much?
Can they enforce a price increase in between contracts? Do you have a say in it? Can you reject? Can you cancel your contract?
Is the police response alarm really a police response alarm?
How many false alarms before police blacklist you?
How much do they charge to change any details on your alarm, for example a key holder?
Alarm Servicing

We do alarm servicing for a lot of customers, whose original installation company is no longer interested in helping them. Servicing can sometimes be a lot of work for little money, so a lot of companies unless you sign a contract, are not interested in getting involved.

We struggle to understand why companies have to get customers to commit to annual maintenance contracts. Well, our customers are under no obligation to use us for their alarm servicing, in 1 year’s time or in 5 years time. No contracts or small prints that trick you into using us again. We believe the quality of our service should encourage our customers to use our dedicated alarm servicing team as and when they need it. Again, all our prices are published on the website.

We have a service charge of only £75.00 -£100.00 depending on the make and model of the system and that includes a full service, battery changing and any reprogramming if needed. If you choose not to have us not service your alarm, we won’t stop you from using it. To be honest, we don’t have the power to do that.

About Us

And if the prices are not enough all of this is done by the Office Team and our Engineers. We do not employ sale people, nor do we have anyone who gets any commission for selling you things you do not need.

On top of our internal training programmes, all of our engineers go through alarm manufacturer’s training programmes. So it’s not just a man with a van. Our engineers go through regular trainings and updates, so they have as much knowledge as possible to better assist you.

Home security is about peace of mind; please spend time researching the product you are getting, and its features, about the alarm company, its services, and find out what the customers are saying about this company. Check review sites like www.trustpilot.co.uk and www.reviewcentre.com to find out about what customers are saying about the company.

Take a moment to see what our existing customers are saying about us.

Top tips to protect your home this summer

Top tips to protect your home this summer.

Here is our summer’s top tip to protecting your home.

Lock up.

Sounds like common sense I know, but you wouldn’t believe the number of doors and windows left open during this time of year. Make sure all windows are secure and all doors are locked before leaving the room you are in, going out or going to bed.

Don’t hide spare Keys out.

Don’t leave keys outside for people to use them. This is a huge no no. I know it’s easy as a just in case any relative to pop over but if you don’t mind them having access to your home then make sure they have their own set to use. This will eliminate any intruders from getting their hands on your keys.

Lock up the gardens.

With kids playing, doing some DIY, gardening and having a BBQ. Things are bound to be left outside. Just try to make sure that you lock everything up. With all those power tools and kids toys lying about, the amount will soon tally up, Be easier to lock them away than have to replace them.
Holidays.

The summer holidays will soon be with us and everyone is planning their big holiday away, but while you are arranging all the last bits and making sure you have everything, One huge tip arrange for someone to come visit your home a couple times while you are away just to make sure everything is ok. The last thing you want is to come home to a disaster. Make sure the move the post, If anyone was to look into your property one of the major things that screams IM AWAY is post on the floor.

Turn your alarm on

One of the best things you can do is install a Burglar alarm. Did you know that we at Fitted Home Alarms are able to tailor our alarms around your everyneed. Want to leave your windows open when you sleep? Not a problem with our Visonic Powermax range we can add devices that will let you leave the windows open while you got to bed.

Expensive power tools in the garage? Easily fixed, with our alarms we can add additional devices to put into your garage that will connect to the alarm system to give you extra peace of mind.

We do a range of different types of alarms to be able to suit everyone’s needs from basic home security to Professional graded alarms.

And remember lock up and be safe.

Don’t let thieves spoil your summer! Our top tips to protect your property this summer.

At last it looks as though the temperatures are beginning to rise as the summer months approach. But are you aware that, unfortunately, this is also the time of year when thefts from homes and gardens reach a peak?

During the good weather we all like to spend time in our gardens and for many of us a summer vacation beckons.

Here are some simple tips which will help you to protect your property and will ensure that your summer is not ruined by an opportunistic thief.

STAYING AT HOME?

Garden Furniture, B-B-Q Equipment, Children’s Toys Etc.

It may be tempting to leave property that we use in the garden unsecured overnight but it really is desirable that all such items are cleared from the garden and, if possible, locked away out of sight of prying eyes.
Windows and Doors.

It always makes sense to keep windows and doors firmly closed and locked whenever practical. Even when you are in your garden you should secure your home to prevent a sneak thief gaining entry.

And during the night make sure that the windows of all unoccupied rooms are properly closed and secured.

GOING AWAY?

When leaving home on a summer vacation, or even for a weekend away, it is essential that you give serious attention to the matter of keeping your property as safe from thieves as possible.

Put Lights on Timers.

Improve security by fitting Timers to the lights in your main living rooms. Set them so that the impression is given that your home is still occupied.
Adjust Blinds and Curtains.

Wherever possible leave blinds and/or curtains in their normal positions, taking care not to leave valuable possessions visible to prying eyes.

Secure Valuables.

Protect important documents, jewellery etc by placing them in a home safe or safe deposit box.

“Hidden” Keys.

Remove all keys from their supposedly “secret” outdoor locations. If possible provide a friend or neighbour with a duplicate key.
Disconnect Your Computer.

Switch off your computer/laptop and disconnect it from the Internet; particularly if it contains personal information.

Don’t Advertise Your Absence!

A burglar may be tipped off to your absence from home by the ringing of an unanswered telephone. So turn off the “Ringer” and keep your Answering Machine in play.

NEVER leave a message on a Facebook or Twitter page informing people that you are on holiday.

Remember to cancel the milk and/or the newspapers. Ask a neighbour to make sure that no mail is left protruding from your letter-box.

Tell The Police!

If you are going to be away from your home for more than a few days then notify your local Police station of your plans. If possible leave your contact details with them.

Why choose Yale 6400 Premium Telecommunicating Alarm

Why choose Yale 6400 Premium Telecommunicating Alarm

When looking to choose a wireless alarm, the choices available in the market are vast and at times confusing. The price ranges vary at times from a few hundred pounds upwards to few thousand pounds, not to mention the different security terms and descriptions used to explain the alarm systems. To make matters worse, some installation companies won’t even mention the make and model of alarm system they are installing.

The basic purpose of a security system is to act as a visible deterrent to burglars. So, a house with one or two alarm bell box outside looks less attractive to the burglar as opposed to a house with no visible signs of security systems.

The second functional aspect to consider with an alarm system is, whether you can use this alarm when you go to bed. What it means is whether the alarm is zone controllable/ allows partitioning of alarm to operate it in stay and away modes. In simple terms, you can turn the alarm on in ‘stay’ mode, it allows you to go to bed, get up and go to the toilet without setting the alarm off, however if someone tries to break in, the alarm goes off. And when you set the alarm on in ‘away’ mode, the alarm is completely on, or all zones of the alarm are working.

Third aspect would be whether you want an alarm to be monitored. Now this is a service a lot of security companies charge monthly fees and involves lengthy contracts. The way this works is, if there is a burglary attempt and the alarm goes off, you will be alerted on your phone. Third party monitoring solutions involve a manned solution – alarm alerts the monitoring station and the monitoring station calls you to tell you the alarm is gone off. Now, the new generation wireless alarm eliminates the need to have third party monitoring and paying monthly fees. The wireless alarm connected to your landline phone can call you directly if there is a break in. No monthly fees or a contract, all it costs you is a landline call to mobile phone.

Considering all these aspects, if you are after an alarm that is within budget, have all the typical features of a monitored or a very expensive alarm system, your solution is a Yale HSA 6400 Premium Telecommunicating intruder alarm system. This system comes with 2 external boxes (1 dummy box and 1 live siren), it is zone controllable and it is telecommunicating, not to mention, all this for less than £400. You can upgrade this alarm to be a pet friendly one; you can add smoke sensors, remote control key fobs, additional pet and standard Yale PIRs and door contacts, a total of 20 accessories. So this alarm is suitable for almost all homes. It’s easy to use and does the same job as most of the much more expensive burglar alarms that are available.

Tips to Secure the Most Vulnerable Room in Your Home: The Garage.

Tips to Secure the Most Vulnerable Room in Your Home: The Garage

Here are 9 tips on how you can improve the security of your garage and avoid someone making off with your lawnmower.

Lock it up!– Sounds like common sense right? It’s amazing to hear all the stories of burglars never having to break into a property; they simply just walk through an unlocked front door or garage. This tip is really easy: lock it up! For added security, install a high quality door lock and deadbolt.
Garage door windows– Burglars are known to look into windows to see if there are any high value items in plain sight. Don’t do burglars any favors by letting them see what items you may have in your garage. Replace your garage door with one that doesn’t have windows. If this isn’t an option, you can frost or cover your garage windows for the same result.
Don’t flaunt your stuff Leaving your garage open can allow anyone driving or walking by a full view of all of your stuff. Keep your garage door closed at all times. Even if you’re driving down the street for gas. A burglar just needs a couple minutes to take what he needs from your garage, don’t give them that chance!
Fortify that door– The door from your garage into your house should be as secure as your front door. Once a burglar is done ransacking your garage, what do you think is next? Your home! Make sure your door is made out of solid-core wood or reinforced steel. This will slow a burglar down, and eventually deter him from gaining entry.
Spotlight your garage area– Installing a bright light near your garage can keep burglars at bay. Installing one with a motion sensor is ideal but not necessary. Be sure to install lighting somewhere out of reach from a burglar.
Car keys– This is probably the biggest security mistake everyone makes. After parking your car in the garage, most people have a tendency to leave the keys in their car. This is a big no no! Most people have the office, home, or storage keys on their key ring. You might as well sign the house over to the burglar if you’re making this mistake.
Automatic garage door opener– Automatic garage door openers make life a whole lot easier when getting home from work, but it’s not all that great for garage security. Burglars are commonly known to use an electronic device called “code grabbers.” Basically what it does is record the radio signal from your remote to the opener giving them the same access as you do into your garage. Modern garage door openers utilize “rolling code” technology which means your remote transmits a brand new security code each time you press your remote making it virtually impossible for a “code grabber” to detect.
Mark your property– It’s your stuff, so mark it! Engraving your name on all your high value items in your garage can save you in the long run. Burglars have a hard time pawning items with someone else’s name on it. Also, if your items are ever stolen and found later on, it’s a good way for the police to get your stuff back to you. Proving that it’s yours is really easy too!
Install a burglar alarm– Installing a wireless security system in your house is Home Security 101. In the event your home is ever burglarized, a siren blares loudly and the police are sent to your home. Not only is there a benefit to catching the burglar in the act, but you are also eligible for a homeowner’s insurance discount

Wireless Burglar Alarms

 Wireless Burglar Alarms

For a long time, the number of burglaries in Britain was reducing every year, then we were hit with recession and things have changed since then. Now, it is estimated that there is an average of 1500 burglaries a day in Britain, the importance of taking measures to protecting your home is more important than ever before. Having an alarm in your property makes a very considerable difference to the chances of getting burgled. Less than 1% of burglaries occur in homes with effective alarm systems. Also gone are the days of expensive and overly expensive alarm systems, which only the rich can afford.

With the introduction of wireless alarm systems, alarm systems became lot more affordable and easy to install. The costly and time consuming installation and the usual untidy finishes of wired alarms are no longer an issue either. The coming of age of wireless alarm technology means that there has never been a more practical and cost-effective way of keeping burglars where you want them – off your premises.

Wireless burglar alarms operate differently from their hard-wired counterparts in that the component parts (control panel, sensors and alarm) communicate via radio signals, rather than electrical wired connection across the whole system. This means no clumsy wiring, quick installation, reliable wireless signals communicating with each other consistency, no concerns of burglars trying to cut the cables off to stop alarms going off either.

Beyond this fundamental difference, the actual methods for detecting intrusion are common to both. In the majority of cases this is based on motion detection using Passive Infrared technology (which actually works by sensing the increased body heat of an intruder), sometimes combined with magnetic sensors attached to doors or windows that trigger an alarm when they are opened.

So the advantages of wireless burglar alarms can be summarised as following:

There is none of the disruption (and potential damage) involved in installing a hard-wired alarm (e.g. removing floorboard, drilling, re-plastering etc.);
the sensors can be placed almost anywhere – location is not dictated by complex wiring issues;
they can be easily removed and re-installed in a different building (they are widely used by tenants in rented accommodation where landlords will not allow alterations);
additional sensors can be added easily, e.g. if a building is extended or the security level needs changing. You can also convert your burglar alarm by changing a few sensors to make it pet friendly, should you choose to get a pet at a later date.
A lot of non-typical alarm accessories can be added to enhance the use of system. Panic buttons, carbon monoxide detectors, smoke detectors, home automation solutions (only available in certain models of alarms).
Wireless burglar alarm technology has developed significantly in recent years, and is now widely considered to be just as reliable as that of wired alarm systems. Some of the issues of signal interference when first introduced reported way back from wireless doorbells and baby monitors have all been eliminated by leading manufacturers.

Wireless alarms are ideal for houses and small to medium commercial premises and public buildings. Cost of wireless alarm systems have reduced over the years and comparing the cost of installation, they have become the preferred alarm system over wired alarm systems in recent years. There are wireless alarm systems to suit every budget, with the range of functionalities and accessories to match.

The more sophisticated wireless alarms can include features such as:

A combination of intrusion detection methods based on magnetic sensors that detect the opening of external doors or windows, and motion sensors to detect movement inside the premises.
The capacity to add on additional functionality to detect smoke, gas leaks or flooding.
The sending of automated warning messages by phone, text or email.
Integration with a telephone and panic alarm system for elderly or disabled users.
The ability to allow pets to roam freely without triggering the alarm.
With the rate of unemployment and other social issues, burglary rates are not expected to come down in the near future, and hence demand for wireless alarm systems are on the rise. Wired alarm systems Vs Wireless alarm systems

Wired alarm systems Vs Wireless alarm systems

Wired alarm systems :

"Expensive: Installation is time consuming and hence costs are lot higher. Alarm and installation costs can vary anything from £700-£2000 pounds depending on your alarm system."

Wireless alarm systems :

"Cheaper: Wireless Alarm systems are lot easier to install, and takes less time, hence making the installation cheaper. Typical wireless alarms with installation costs are £275 – 700 depending on your alarm system".

Wired Alarm Systems
  • Expensive: Installation is time consuming and hence costs are lot higher. Alarm and installation costs can vary anything from £700-£2000 pounds depending on your alarm system.
  • Messy: Wired systems means, lots of cables in your home, holes, drillings through walls, nails, overall affecting the decor, not to mention lack of flexibility with setting accessories in preferred locations.
  • Permanent: Wired alarm systems are a permanent fixture and it requires another layout of cash to remove the system, and you might need to redo the interior of your property as well.
  • Difficult to upgrade: It is virtually impossible to make any changes to your wired alarm system
  • No Signal Interference: Even on wired alarms, some parts may be wireless. They are recommended over wireless alarms, as first generations of wireless alarms had signal interference causing false alarms.
  • Longer lead time: Most wired alarm installation companies need to send an engineer (Beware: it could also be a sales person!) out to measure your property, and then give you a quote, and it could take weeks before they can come back to do an installation. And the lengthy installation process normally means, you may need to take a day or two off work to get the alarm fitted.
Wireless alarm systems
  • Cheaper: Wireless Alarm systems are lot easier to install, and takes less time, hence making the installation cheaper. Typical wireless alarms with installation costs are £275 – 700 depending on your alarm system
  • Wireless systems need minimal fixings, total flexibility with locations of accessories, at times helping reduce the number of accessories and hence the cost of system.
  • Easy to take with you: Easy to take with you, when you move.
  • Future proof: You want to add a new feature to your wireless alarm system (eg: an extra sensor, or a new type of detector), it is pretty straightforward. It is easier to find faults with any parts, and to replace them as well.
  • No Signal Interference: All the wireless alarms provided by Fitted Home Alarms are tested, and have no problems with signal interference from any other wireless devices. They work fine with your wireless doorbells, wireless internet routers, and any other wireless devices you and any of your neighbours own without any crosstalk or false alarm triggering.
  • Express Installation: We, at Fitted Home Alarms aim to do all our installations within 5 days of order. We also offer installation within 24 hours of order and weekend and evening installations for a small additional fee. Most installations take 2-3 hours.
